FIREMAN’S TRAGEDY

A fireman on a coastal freighter was jubilant when his ship docked recently at Pernambuco, for he was to be married the next day. With a sack full of presents he leapt from the vessel towards the quayside where his bride-to-be awaited him. but he fell into the water. The girl jumped in to save Jiim. and ceeded in supporting him till help arrived. Then, exhausted, she herself sank and was drowiied. The fireman was saved with hig sack of presents. These he threw into the water where hia bride-to-be was drowned and vanished. No one has seen him since.
