The Valley True Blue Lodge held its fortnightly meeting on Tuesday, W.M. Bro. Campbell presiding * over a good attendance of members. The auditor’s report was submitted and adopted, and showed the lodge finances to be in a healthy condition, although in common with other societies there was the problem of outstanding dues to solve. It was decided to improve the facilities in the lodge room. Several members expressed appreciation of the annual church parade, held at First Church on Sunday last, the service being conducted by the Rev. Allen Stevely. A good representation from the lodge took part in the parade. It was decided to hold the annual dapee on August 27. A vote of thanks was accorded the visitors, and was responded to by P.M. Bro. Weir, of Triumph No. 9. After the lodge closed the Pride of the Valley members paid a visit to play off a challenge for the Euchre Shield. A very enjoyable _ contest resulted, Valley True Blue retaining the trophy. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of Pride of Valley Women’s Lodge, W.Mist. Sister Gumming presiding. Two candidates were initiated. Sister Robertson and Sister Harvey were apnointed lodge trustees, in addition to Sister Currie. The visitors included P.G.M. Bro. Harvey and P.M. Bro. Graves, of the Valley True Blue, who installed Sister Smith as chaplain of the lodge. A hearty welcome was accorded the visiting officers, who suitably responded. There was a largo attendance of members at the Hope of Valley Juvenile Girls’ Lodge, Sister Knox presiding. The visitors included Triumph Juveniles, with Superintendents Sister Mathewson and Bro. Perrin, Valley True Blue Juveniles, with Superintendents Bros. Campbell and Drysdale and Dr Harty. The medical officer gave a very interesting and instructive lecture to the members on the subject of simple ailments, which was very much enjoyed by all. At the conclusion of the lecture W.Mist. Sister Knox conveyed the thanks of members to Dr Harty, and expressed the hope that, at some future date, they might have him with them again. Dr Harty suitably responded.
