CALEDONIAN BOWLING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Caledonian Bowling Club was held last night,- when there was a good attendance of members. The president (Mr W. C. Hendry) occupied the chair. The chairman made reference to the loss which the club had suffered bv the deaths of Messra D. Smith, who had been one of the oldest players in Dunedin, R. Campbell, and R. W. M. Greenslade. Mention was also made of the deaths of two ex-members of the club —Messrs H. Butcher and H. M. Laughlan. A motion of sympathy with the relatives was carried in silence. The adoption of the annual report and balance sheet was moved by the chairman, who said that he was proud to congratulate the club on winning the Interclub Competition. He also congratulated other players who had been instrumental in bringing honours to the club. _ The finances were in a satisfactory condition, and the green was in good order. The motion was seconded by Mr J. Carman. The treasurer (Mr R. C. Procter) outlined the financial position of the club, and expressed the opinion that the position was a very satisfactory one. The motion was carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officer a for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patroness, Miss A. Greenslade; president, Mr J. Seddon; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Carroll and J. Lambert; treasurer, Mr R. C. Procter; secretary, Mr L. J. Edwards; committee —Messrs J. Abbott, W. T. Henaghan, W. C. Hendry, F. J. Forrester, and W. G. Lloyd; green supervisor, Mr J. Sutherland; delegates to Dunedin Bowling Centre—Messrs J. Seddon, W. T. Henaghan, and W. G. Lloyd; auditors, Messrs A. Macdonald and W. Latham; selectors, Messrs G. C. Clandge and J. Carroll. RENEWAL OF LEASE. The report of the sub-committee set up at the previous annual meeting to negotiate with the Caledonian Society for the purchase or lease of the club's green, submitted a report in which it was recommended that a lease for 10 years should be taken up on terms offered by the Caledonian Society.—Mr J. H. F. Hamel moved the adoption of the subcommittee's recommendation and the motion was seconded by Mr J. CarrollThere was a brief discussion in committee and the motion was carried. INTERCLUB COMPETITION. The question of altering the system of conducting the Saturday Interclub Competition was brought up by Mr W. G. Lloyd, who reported on a discussion which had taken place recently at a meeting of the Dunedin Centre.—Mr M'Leod said that he thought every member of the club was satisfied with the present system It was decided to approve the continuance of the present system. GENERAL. It was decided to enter for the Fourrink Championship, the Adess Shield Competition, unci to enter five rinks for the Saturday Competition. It was also decided to institute a Champion Doubles Competition and to forward a recommendation to the centre that a Champion of Champions Doubles Competition should be held.
