BRITISH DRAMA LEAGUE
COMING DUNEDIN FESTIVAL The interest and enthusiasm accrued by the British Drama League's festival in Dunedin last year gave demonstration to the public of the value and popularity of the development which this organisation represents. The league is presenting its second series of short plays in the Town Hall Concert Chamber next month, the season, which will commence on July 10 and continue till July 13, including a matinee on the Saturday which will provide an opportunity for junior teams. The British Drama League has high ideals of usefulness. Its interests are far-reaching and widely spread. It is not a money-making concern. It has been formed with the object of offering to everybody an opportunity of doing something within the field of its activity. It/a psychological value as a medium for self-expression will be at once recognised. Any team may enter these festivals, the purpose of which is. to grade and encourage such efforts. Here is occupation, interest, instruction, and amusement for members of the remotest communities. Naturally, public interest is of paramount importance to the success of such an enterprise as is embarked upon, and the Drama League is doing its best to encourage this by offering season tickets for its approaching festival on liberal terms, namely, for the sum of five shillings. The booking, which is in the hands of the D.I.C, will be opened on Tuesday, June 28, and country patrons are advised to present their requests as early as possible, as the capacity of the Concert Chamber is limited.
