DOG TRIALS
PALMERSTON COLLIE CLUB (From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, May 10. The Palmerston Collie Club has been very fortunate in obtaining fair weather throughout its trials. The following are the results of the third day's events: — OPEN HUNTAWAY EVENT. F. M'Gregor's Glen, 50$ points .. ' 1 B. Callaghan's Mac Romp, 49$ points 2 J. M'Gregor's Mack, 49 points .. 3 J. Falconer's Poi, 48$ points .. .. 4 Also competed: A. Henderson's Don, R. W. Trotter's Laddie, A. Henderson's Tiger 32}, R. W Trotter's De Groot, B. Callaehan's Rue, B. Callaghan's Ben Romp 461, G. Coutt's Gyp, A. M'Vean's Bess 40$, W. Munro's Tweed, D. Sutherland's Mack 37 points. SWEEPSTAKE HUNTAWAY EVENT. J. M'Gregor's Mack, 514 points .. 1 F. M'Gregor's Glen, 50$ points .. 2 A. M'Vean's Bess, 46 points .. .. 3 Also competed: D. Sutherland's Mack 31" B. Callaghan's Ben Romp 28$, Mac Romp 141, J. Falconer's Poi 31$, D. Munro's Tweed 17$. LOCAL COMPETITORS' EVENT. B. Callaghan's Rue 1 K. Philip's Spot 2 M. Nichol's Syd + G. Smith's Sweep T After the trials had been concluded, the various trophies were presented. The Bushey Park Memorial Cup, the Local Competitors' Cup, and the cup for most points were presented to Mr B. Callaghan, a local competitor, who has been very .successful during the trials. The judge (Mr D. Murdoch) was thanked for the excellent manner in which he had carried out his work, and Mr John Philip, for the use of his property, " Hill Hampton." Mr D. Ross was also thanked for the use of his sheep for the trials. The youngest competitor's medal was then presented to Master Keith Philip, who showed excellent promise throughout the trials. The Teacher's Cup, which was not qualified for. will remain in the present holder's hands.
