REVOLT IN THE PHILIPPINES SIXTY DEATHS REPORTED (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) N MANILA, May 4. (Received May 5,- at 8.30 p.m.) The Acting-Governor, Mr Joseph Hayden, declared to-day that the Philippine Government has no suspicion or evidence that the Japanese were in any way implicated with the Sakdalista rebellion, which has claimed 00 lives during the past few days. This announcement followed reports that Bengino Ramos, representing. himself as leader and envoy of the Sakdalista party, waV now in Tokio seeking support for a movement against the American Government. Mr Hayden said, however, that officials were considering the suggestion that Tokio should be requested to extradite Ramos. Sporadic violence has been reported to-day, indicating that the revolt is still simmering. A roaming band of Sakdalistas killed a truck driver and injured two labourers. Bulacan constabulary detachments have been sent to investigate a report that several hundred were mobilised for a renewed attack on that province. The Japanese Consul-general (Mr Kimura) denied the reports that the Sakdal movement was influenced or backed by Japanese local authorities. It is reported from the United States that General Murphy, who is ■ undergoing medical treatment, has expressed his intention to return to the Philippines as soon as his health is restored to undertake improvement of the economic and social conditions in the disaffected areas.
