The draw for positions for the Interuniversity Eight-oar Race resulted as tollows:—Auckland 1, Otago 2, Wellington 3, Canterbury 4. Mr S. G. Styche reported that he had interviewed the harbour master in regard to the stowage of boats. Captain MacLean had stated that it would not be possible to stow the boats in any of the sheds on the Birch street wharf, but the first concrete shed on the Rattray street wharf would be available. The harbour master had been asked to provide an official in uniform to keep the steamer basin clear of craft and to keep the Birch street wharf clear of shipping if possible. These matters would receive attention when the association made application in writing. Mr W. G. Glengarry was appointed umpire for the lnterprovincial Race, in place of Mr W. J. Wilson, who notified the association that he was unable to act owing to the pressure of work at Easter. The Marlborough Rowing Association advised that it would not be represented in the contest this year. The association regretted its inability to be represented, but wished the Otago Association every success. Advice was received that the majority of the visiting crews would arrive in Duncdin on Thursday, April 18, and on Good Friday. It was decided to entertain the competing crews at. a smoke concert in the Otago Rowing Club's boathouse on Easter Saturday night, the members of the association to act as an entertainment committee. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs W. B. Robinson. E. V. Fairbairn, J. Turnbull, and T. Porter was appointed to make the final arrangements. The Otago Rowing Club advised that the committee had granted the association permission to use the boathouse for the purpose of housing the eight-oar boats for the interprovincial race. The association had also been granted the use; of the club's social hall for the entertainment of visiting oarsmen. The Otago University Rowing Club wrote thanking the association for the use of an eight-oar boat for the Inter-univer-sity race on Easter Saturday, and stating that the dub agreed to the conditions outlined by the association in connection with the loan of the boat.
