RIGHTS OF WOMEN

NEW ZEALAND LEGISLATION NO ACTION IN BRITAIN LONDON, April 9. In the House of Commons Mr Ramsay MacDonald, replying to Sir Herbert Samuel’s question relating to New Zealand’s legislation on the rights of New Zealand women married to aliens, said that, as it was at present advised, the Government’s opinion was that it would not serve a useful purpose to discuss with the Dominion representatives in London the question of further legislation concerning women’s nationality with a view to obtaining uniformity throughout the Empire. Sir Herbert Samuel: Will not the Government consider legislation going at least as far as New Zealand’s? Mr MacDonald: It is one thing in New Zealand and another here.
