STEAMER DAMAGED
ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE NEW YORK, April 9. The British freighter Towerbridge sent an S.O.S. message : “ Hold filling rapidly. Position about 200 miles east of St. John’s, Newfoundland.” The steamers Seanstates, Manchester Producer, and Newfoundland are reported in the vicinity, and are proceeding to the freighter's assistance. NO IMMEDIATE DANGER NEW YORK, April 9. The freighter Towerbridge, formerly the Badagry, has wirelessed that she docs not need immediate assistance and expects to reach St. John's, Newfoundland, on Wednesday at noon.
