In Atlanta, Georgia, a gamekeeper served a warrant on Colonel W. B. Hutchinson for having illegally shot five does. Colonel Hutchinson claimed he had not noticed the does in the heavy underbrush, had fired at a buck, killing buck and does with one 12-pellet shell. “ Rainbow Hill ” is the name which has been given to a kopje overlooking Ladysmith. Clay of various colours—red, pink, cream, green, brown and yellow—has been discovered on the hill, and this, when dried and powdered and mixed with water or oil, forms a good paint wash.
