PALMER DEFLATS RICHARDS SYDNEY, March 13. (Received March 14, at 1.30 a.m.) At the Leichardt Stadium to-night, in 15 rounds, Ambrose Palmer (12.5) narrowly outpointed Ron Richards (11.4). The latter gave a sparkling exhibition and gave Palmer the hardest fight of his career. PROFESSIONAL CONTESTS. (Peb United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 13. Jack Jarvis (Eltham) in his first professional fight to-night drew with Percy Hawes (Christchurch) in a willing bout. Jarvis had the better of the contest for six rounds. In" the eighth -Hawes went down for the count of nine three times, but at the end of the round damaged Jarvis’s eye. Hawes made a remarkable recovery, and more than held his own over the rest of the fight. In another professional fight Harry Mudgway (Waihi) defeated Johnny M‘Kay (Gisborne) on points. Mudgway was the better boxer.
