CITY POLICE COURT
Satubday, February 23. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) INDECENT ACT. Robert Jackson appeared for sentence on a charge of committing an indecent act.—The magistrate remarked that the offence was a disgusting one and involved a penalty of up, to 12 months' imprisonment, but in view of the prisoner's age and of other circumstances he would admit him to probation for 12 months on condition that he abstained from liquor during that period, SHOPLIFTING ALLEGED. A woman whose name was suppressed was charged with stealing a pair of stockings valued at 2s 6d.—Detective Sergeant Doyle stated that the arrest had been made on Friday night, and that further inquiries were to be made. —A remand until next Friday was granted, and, on the application of Mr 0. G. Stevens, bail of £4O in the accused's own recognisance was allowed on condition that the accused reported daily to the police.
