EXTENSIVE DEVELOPMENTS > HUGE EXPENDITURE NEXT YEAR LONDON, December 28. (Received Dec. 28, at 10.30 p.m.) The British railway companies are spending £16,000,000 on developments in 1935. The Great Western is building 95 locomotives, including 10 of the Castle type, similar to the Cheltenham Flyer, the world's fastest steam train. Other companies are planning Diesel engines, stream-lined -carriages, additional electrification of lines, improvement of stations, and 13,530 passenger and goods vehicles to cope with the greater traffic demands, following the revival of trade and the extension of cheap travel.
