SACRED CANTATA
ST. CLAIR PRESBYTERIAN CHOIR A very pleasing rendering of the sacred, cantata ",Daniel " was given by the St. Clair Presbyterian Church Choir last evening before a good attendance. The cantata is a particularly attractive one, rich in melody and giving the soloists ample (scope.. Of these, Miss Ruby Price (soprano) was especially good, her work both in soio and concerted numbers being nothing short of delightful. • The mezzo part, which was sung by Miss Angela Hendry, was also very well presented. The choir, under the comluctorship of Mr B. Rawlinson, responded well and quickly found the spirit of the story. In the first part of the cantata, which deals with the bondage of Daniel and hi, people under King Nebuchadnezzar, Mr Aubrey Clarke (tenor), as Azariah, sang the "solo '"All People and All Nations" with excellent effect. Mr Charles Williams (baritone), as Daniel, was heard to considerable advantage in " Daniel's Prayer." The part of the King was ably taken by Mr Rawlinson, his rendering of the bass solos being outstanding. One of the most attractive parts of the whole cantata was the trio " Stili Do We Long for Thee." in which Miss Betty Pike was associated with Misses Price and Hendry. The organist was Miss Bertha Rawlinson, who gave the choir invaluable assistance.
