BRITISH PARLIAMENT

THE NEW SESSION LEGISLATION ON INDIA (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 18. The work before Parliament, which reassembles at the end of the present month, will be dominated by the question of Indian constitutional reforms, and the Government’s Bill to give effect to its proposals will overshadow in importance all other legislation. The new session will be opened by the King in state about November 20. It is anticipated that little over a fortnight will suffice to wind up the outstanding legislative work of the present •session, and it will probably end on November 16; but the procedure to be adopted in regard to publication of the report of the Joint Select Committee of both Houses on the Indian Constitutional Reform Bill will come before the House of Commons when this session is resumed on October 30. The committee’s main task is completed, but there still remains an immense amount of detailed work to be done in connection with the preparation of reports and records, for the desirability of making the report available simultaneously in India and Britain has boon recognised, but parliamentary approval for such a course is necessary. Accordingly, when Parliament reassembles a resolution to effect this will be submitted on behalf of the Government. Publication of the report may be expected towards the end of November, and the report will probably be debated soon after_ by both Houses. Presentation of a Bill to give effect to the Government proposals will’ follow.
