“ALICE IN TOYLAND”

The operetta “ Alice in Toyland ” will be presented by the Dunedin Juvenile Operatic Society in e Town Hall Concert Chamber this afternoon. The scene opens on Christmas Eve, when Alice is banging up her stoeki-g. After her mother puts her to bed, wonderful things occur when all the toys come to life and take Alice along with them to the dolls’ carnival. Santa Claus himself appears and gives Alice her presents. There should be some excellent singing, •'d the dialogue is said to be arkling and interesting. Artistic costumes will be worn by the young performers. The cast is as follows:—June Pringle (Alice), Elsie Kirkhara (her mother), Dick Smallman (Santa Claus), Isabel Dakers (Dolly Vardcn), Hinerua Adams (Sailor Doll - ), Mary Sheppard (Queen of the Dolls), Valerie Reid (Teddy Bear), and Murray Bowie (Golliwog). The children from Miss Gwen Webster’s School of Dancing are Joyce Smith, Joy Vickery, Lorraine Hill, Pamela Page and Lorna Hewitt. A short programme of singing, pianoforte and elocutionary items will precede the operetta, and a short play, “ The Hat and Stick,” a comedy, will be performed by the senior girls. Miss Sybil Baker, F.T.C.L., will be the musical directress, and Miss Evelyn M'Guire violinist.
