BODIES UNEARTHED
VICTIMS OF 1665 PLAGUE LONDON, September 19. Human remains, representing 800 bodies, were discovered during the rebuilding of the Bank of England. Ninety-eight complete bodies were reinterred at the bank’s expense. The bodies were mostly victims of the plague of 1605. The excavators also found the body of Jenkins, the Bank of England giant. It was interred ■ in the • bank precincts to prevent body snatchers from stealing the corpse.
