THE ROYAL LOVERS

VISIT TO BALMORAL SPECIAL CHILLIES’ BALL LONDON, September 19. Princess Marina was the guest of honour at a special ghillics’ ball at Balmoral, displaying unexpected skill in Scottish reels. One hundred and -fifty male guests wore kilts, mostly the Stewart hunting tartan, while the women had tartan sashes across their corsages. Though the King was only an onlooker, the Queen danced frequently. It was noteworthy that no saxophones or drums were included in the band, as the King dislikes them, while fox trots and other modern dances were reserved until the King and the royal guests had left the ballroom. Plans are being prepared for a big banquet and another ball at the castle before Princess Marina ends her visit.
