(Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 13, The allegation that he gave a Chinese lanndryman £SO in cash because the latter suggested that it might be stolen from him was made by a Chinese schoolboy, aged ]4, in the Police Court, when Stanley Horne, aged 44, was charged with stealing £SO belonging to Gang long. Ihe accused made a counter-allegation that tlic boy gave him the money to buy opium and they were to divide the profits, lie asserted that he remitted the £.)O to a Chinese in Sydney and that lie expected the opium to arrive by the Monowaj next trip. He pleaded not_ guilty to the thett charge and was committed for trial. CHRISTCHURCH, September 3. The Conciliation Council considered the North Canterbury timber workers adjourned dispute and decided to forward recommendations to the Arbitration Court with a request that it should determine the wages for tailers out and yard labourers and delete the clause referring to drivers.
