OBITUARY
MR GEORGE HENRY BOSCH AUSTRALIAN BENEFACTOR. SYDNEY, August 31. (Received August 31, at 9 p.m.) The death is announced of Mr George Henry Bosch, aged 73, one of the principal benefactors of educational institutions in Australia. His benefactions included a gift of £220,000 to Sydney University for the establishment of chairs of medicine, surgery and bacteriology. MR JOHN KENNEDY (Per United Press Association) TIMARU, August 31. The death occurred at Hanmer to-day of Mr John Kennedy, of Geraldine. Ha was prominently associated with 'public bodies throughout the district for a great many years and was Mayor of Geraldine for several terms, chairman of the Power Board for the last 10 years, and a member of the Hospital Bead. Mr Kennedy was keenly interested in athletics, and for many years was secretary of St. Patrick’s Sports Association. At different times he was president and secretary of the South Canterbury Centre of the Athletic and Cycling Union and the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union, and was secretary of both bodies at the time of his death. He was well known in racing circles, being secretary of the Geraldine Racing Club. Last year he was president of the New Zealand Country Racing Clubs’ Conference. MR H. T. H. GRAVE (Special to Daily Times) CHRISTCHURCH, August 31. Mr H. T. H. Grave, of Sumner, Christchurch, whose death occurred suddenly at Greymouth yesterday, was well known as a fire insurance adjuster, his duties during the last 25 years taking him - to many parts of the Dominion. He was horn in Williamstown, Victoria, in 1806 and educated at Melbourne. After being employed as an engineer at a big Melbourne foundry, he took up work as a commercial insurance agent. He came to New Zealand as chief inspector for the Standard Insurance Company, Ltd., and held positions at New Plymouth and Auckland. Owing to failing health, he resigned from the company and came to Christchurch, where he set up in private practice. Mr Grave was prominently connected with the Baptist Church and was instrumental in establishing the New Zealand Bible Training Institute. He leaves a widow, two daughters and one son. MR G. A. MONTGOMERY (Per United Press Association.) NELSON, August 31. The death is announced of Mr Georg# Alfred Montgomery, formerly of Christchurch, where he was associated with a saddlery business and the early coach service to the West Coast. He had been a resident of Nelson for the past 11 years and was highly respected. He is survived by three daughters and two sous.
