GERMAN CLIMBERS

RETURNING FROM INDIA CALCUTTA, August 30. (Received August 31, at 10 p.m.) Six of the Gorman Nanga Pnrhat climbers arc in Calcutta, on route for home. They state they intend to return for another attempt to climb the mountain. Herr Bochtold, who is loader in place 0 f Ur Mcrkl. said the expedition reached 26,000 feet, but was prevented from reaching the summit, 600 feet away, by terrible Wizards which caused the deaths of three Germans and six porters. For a week they tried to rescue the missing men, but were defeated by continuous blizzards and intense cold. Herr Bcchtold paid a tribute to the courage, endurance and devotion of the porters, who declared that whatever the danger they would gladly accompany the Germans in another attempt.
