PRINCE GEORGE

WEDDING ARRANGEMENTS DATE NOT YET ANNOUNCED (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, August 29.

Exceptional interest has been aroused in tlie announcement of Prince George’s engagement to Princess Marina. They left Salzburg to-day in company with Prince and Princess Paul of Jugoslavia, whose guests they will be at a villa on the shores of Lake Bled. Prince George was at the wheel of the car in which he and his fiance travelled, and his hosts followed in another car.

Their Highnesses have been overwhelmed with congratulations on their betrothal, and the King and Queen have also received many messages of congratulation.

No official announcement of the date of the wedding has been made, but the press anticipates that it will take place in London, probably at Westminster Abbey late in the autumn, and precedents are being examined with regard to procedure. Formal consent to the marriage will be given by an Order-in-Council, following which arrangements for the wedding will be made under the direction of the Duke of Norfolk as Earl Marshal. Meanwhile, it ia anticipated that Prince George will return to London in about a week or ten days, and Princess Marina will pay a short visit to London as the guest of the King and Queen.

THE PRINCE INTERVIEWED LONDON, August 29. “ Tlxe cat’s out of the bag, so I suppose I may rs well tell you,” said Prince George when approached by the Daily Express’s Salzburg correspondent. “The Princess and I are engaged. It was all very sudden and unexpected. We are both very happy, aren’t we? ” he added, turning to Princess Marina, whose grey-brown eyes'twinkled. She said that the Prince had proposed near Bohinska Lake. “I think the wedding will be in •November. Tell the English people that I love England,” she added. I?he Princess then stepped into a twoseater, lighted a cigarette, and Prince George took the wheel. The Princess is sft Sin high. She is so slim that she looks taller. COURTESY TITLE FOR PRINCE LONDON, August 30. (Deceived August 30, at 10 p.m.) The impression in official circles is that Prince George’s wedding will take place in the third or fourth week in November. It is unlikely that the Greek Orthodox Church service will be necessary in addition to the Abbey service, as the Greek and Anglican Churches are in close brotherhood and their marriage ceremonies are much alike. There is no precedent for a son of the King being married under a courtesy title, so there is a likelihood of Prince George being created Duke Kent of Edinburgh, as the King’s wedding gift. The Prince of Wales, who is at Biarritz, is understood to have telegraphed Prince George offering him congratulations and suggesting the possibility of a flying visit to see Princess Marina and Ids brother before he returns to London.

THE ENGAGEMENT RING LONDON, August 30. (Received August 30, at 11.30 p.m.) Prince George gave Princess Marina an engagement ring yesterday. It is learned that they became engaged on Sunday, but formalities before the announcement was made occupied two days.
