NORTHERN SYRIA

EXCAVATION WORK OCTOGENARIAN TO PARTICIPATE LONDON, August 28. The octogenarian archmologist, Sir Flinders Petrie, with his wife and two students, is starting this week for Northern Syria to explore and excavate in the hope of finding traces of a high civilisation flourishing there 5000 years ago.

Sir Flinders Petrie has been Edwards professor of Egyptology at University College, London, for upwards of 30 years. He has carried out excavations in Egypt from 1880 up to the present time, and in addition to mating many importantdiscoveries he has greatly enriched the scientific literature on the subject.
