MEETING OF HIGH COUNCIL CHOOSING THE LEADER (British Official Wireless ) (United Press Association. ) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, August 28. The meeting of the High Council of the Salvation Army to appoint a successor to General Higgins when he retires from the leadership on November 1 was held in private. The voting will be by ballot. Those taking part in the movement include Commander Evangeline Booth (daughter of the founder of the movement) and Catherine Booth (daughter of tie late General Bramwell Booth). It is understood that both arc among the 15 who have been nominated for the generalship. The result will not be known until to-morrow afternoon at the earliest. The Dukeof York will preside at the farewell meeting to General Higgins in the Albert Hall oa November 1. WOMAN MAY BE ELECTED LONDON, August 28. The Salvation Army High Council met behind closely guarded doors. It is understood that the nominations showed a far larger number of possible generals than was anticipated. The Evening News declares it. is likely that Commander Evangeline Booth will be elected.
