BREACH OF CONFIDENCE ALLEGED SECRETARY OF DAIRY BOARD DEFENDED. (Per United Press Association) HAMILTON, August 27. .Replying to an allegation made by Mr A. D. M'Leod in Parliament last week that Mr T. C. Brush, secretary of the Dairy. Produce Board, had committed a breach of confidence at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Company, Mr Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the company, interviewed to-day, stated that. In fairness to Mr Brash, it was necessary for him, as chairman of the meeting, to point out that, if any breach of confidence was.made, he ..was responsible, and not Mr Brash. The matter arose through a question asked by one of the shareholders as to w.hat action was taken by the dairy industry in connection with the exclusion from export of hobby calves and boneless beef. The first meeting between the : Dairy and Meat Boards respecting the matter was held on July 12, and the information supplied by himself at the annual meeting .was. well known throughout New Zealand, “When making the explanation, I referred to the fact that Mr Brash was present, and would lie able to confirm what I said. Mr Brash stated that the decision was one of. the Meat Board, and not the British Government, which, of course, is true. Nobody was blaming the Meat Board. I am very surprised that Mr M'Leod should go so far as to condemn an officer of the Dairy Board before he is conversant with the full facts of the case. . • '
“I am also surprised tliat Mr ,M‘Leod does not consider the dairy farmer entitled to know exactly what is taking place regarding his own production,” concluded Mr Fulton.
