OTAGO RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE The weekly, meeting of the Committee of.Management,of the Otago-Rugby Union was held last night. The president (Mr John Mitchell) occupied the chair. A letter was received from the Union Football Club in reply to a charge that it had played three players in the match Union v. Pirates, Third Grade. It was pointed out that there was no question of “ ringing, in” the- players, as they had played in the majority of- the previous Third Grade matches for the club. The committee had no knowledge of the allegations that one of the players referred to was an unregistered League player.— Some discussion took place on the laxity shown by some clubs in seeing that 'their players were registered and graded.^—lt was decided to declare Pirates the winners of the match, and to draw the attention of clubs to the necessity of .seeing that their players were graded and registered. , A letter was received from the,. South Canterbury Union stating that its touring team would play Southland on September 1, and Otago on September 5.
