MATCH AGAINST SCOTLAND KIPPAX IN FINE* FORM (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) EDINBURGH, July 30. In the match against Scotland, M Cabe was out to a brilliant left-hand catch. He had batted 95 minutes and hit nine fours. Barnett, in attempting to force the pace, was then easily caught. He had batted 190 minutes, and bit one six and five fours. . Kippax, in his innings of 140 minutes, hit six fours. The Australians declared when Barnett was out, the innings having lasted 290 minutes. Ebeling, with a brilliant low lefthanded catch at second slip, shattered Scotland’s hopes by dismissing Dempster when be seemed set for a sparkling innings. He cover drove and glanced Ebeling for two fours—perfect shots—and was playing confident cricket, despite a strained leg, which necessitated a runner for him. . Ebeling bowled Hart and Innes witn successive balls. Thereafter the batsmen were clearly nervous, but Scotland, thanks principally to Smith, who batted soundly, and the Australians’ laxity, comfortably avoided defeat, the match being drawn; — Following are the scores; — SCOTLAND.
