THE WEATHER
There was a continuation of fine weather on Saturday, with passing cloud and sunshine and a light south-west wind, the maximum temperature was 48 degrees. After a • fine morning and bright sunshine early, the sky yesterday became overcast and threatening. A cold southwesterly breeze blew throughout the greater part of the day. The barometer was steady at about 30.30. < CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH. \ (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, July 29. Wintry weather with a fresh southerly wind and heavy rain continued until Saturday afternoon, when the wind commenced to moderate and only light showers were experienced. To-day was fine and sunny with a very light southerly breeze making the conditions cold in the shade. The barometer has risen to 30.00 in. WELLINGTON, July 29.
The weather at Wellington has been cold and rather cloudy with a moderate to fresh breeze from the south-south-east. Although the total amount of rain was almost negligable there were showers on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 45.0 degrees and the minimum during the following night 30.2 degrees. At 9 a.m. on Sunday the temperature was 45.1 degrees and at 4 p.m. 46.2 degrees. The wather was fine in Christchurch yesterday with continuous bright sunshine and little wind. To-day was also fine and sunny, but a southerly wind made the conditions cold. The barometer reading to-night was 30.15 in.
