The death is announced of the Duke of Wellington on the anniversary of the Battle pf Waterloo. The Duke of Wellington was the third son of Major-general Lord Charles Wellesley, second son of the first duke. He was born in 1840. He was Lieuten-ant-commanding Colonel, Ist Battalion, Grenadier Guards, from 1891 to 1895. He owned about 19,200 acres. His heir is Marquess Douro. MR JAMES RICHARD COLLINS A PROMINENT AUSTRALIAN. LONDON, June IS. The death is announced of Mr James Richard Collins, formerly financial adviser to the Australian High Commissioner. MR DANIEL REES AUSTRALIAN MINERS’ OFFICIAL. SYDNEY, June 19. (Received June 19, at 11.53 p.m.) The death is announced of Mr Daniel Rees, who was until recently general president of the Miners’ Federation of Australia; aged 68,. Minors throughout the Commonwealth will not work on the day of the funeral.
