NAZIS IN AUSTRIA
SERIES OF OUTRAGES DEFENCE MEASURES ADOPTED (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) VIENNA, June 11. (Received June 11, at 7.35 p.m.) There was an unprecedented series of Nazi bomb outrages during the week-end, though the newspapers are permitted to publish only the barest details.
An emergency meeting of the Cabinet at midnight resolved to create local defence forces throughout the country. It was announced that the forces are expected to act within the limits of the law, but will be fully protected if they overstep those limits through inadvertence. Cabinet, it was added, has positive information that the terrorism, which aims at ruining the tourist traffic, has its headquarters in Germany, and traffic has been held up on the railways linking Austria with Italy and France. Tho defence corps are empowered to search for weapons and explosives and clear up crimes of violence with the severest punishment and prompt employment of the death penalty.
