STREET CROSSINGS
SAFETY OF PEDESTRIANS EXPERIMENT IN LONDON. (BritlsL Official Wireless.) RUGBY, June 9. (Received June 11, at 5.5 p.m.) Experimental road crossings for pedestrians at 60 places in Westminster and Holborn will come into operation in London on Monday. The regulations provide for the first time that pedestrians crossing the road elsewhere than at the crossings which are marked on the roadway will be liable on convictions to a maximum fine of ss, while a maximum penalty of £5 is provided for drivers of vehicles who ignore the regulations affecting them at these crossings, which are all at places where traffic is controlled by lights or by the police.
