ST. KILDA QUEEN CARNIVAL
On Saturday evening next the St. Kilda Queen Carnival will definitely close, and the announcement of the final result of the competition will be made shortly after 10 o'clock that evening, this being the last stage of the carnival fair which is to mark the finish of activities extending over many weeks. The fair will be open on Thursday night and on Friday and Saturday afternoon and night, and each of the four competing queens will preside over a wellstocked stall. Patrons will also be entertained with highly-attractive programmes of music, singing; comedy, dancing, etc., and there will be sideshows and other amusements. Special provision is being .made for juveniles on Saturday afternoon, one important item being a fancy dress competition, which is to be judged by " Big Brother Bill," of 4YA broadcasting station, and for which prizes are to be awarded. Admission to the afternoon sessions is free, and a nominal charge will be made at the evening sessions. On Wednesday evening next the Commercial Travellers' Entertainers will stage one of their bright and sparkling variety concerts in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, with a dunce to follow. The offerings of this justly popular little party of gifted artists are invariably enjoyed by large audiences, and on this occasion a special effort is being made in support of the Municipal Queen (Miss S. Quirk), who was yesterday at the head of the poll, with the Surf Queen, Tramways Queen, and Sports Queen following in that order.
