RECRUITS FOR THE NAVY

BIG PERCENTAGE REJECTED WRONG TYPE APPLYING (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 22. Out of 210 applicants for 16 vacancies in the May entries for the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy only 14 lads were finally selected as suitable. The tendency, according to one of the Selection Board at the Devonport naval base, is for the wrong type of lad to apply. It is considered that there are plenty of lads who would be suitable for recruiting, but they either do not know of the opportunity or will not come forward. Recruits are invited from all parts of the Dominion from hoys 15J to 164 years old.
