ORDERED TO LEAVE

PRIESTS IN MEXICAN STATE GOVERNOR CLOSES CHURCHES (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) ARIZONA. May 21. All Roman Catholic chinches in the Sonora State of Mexico were closed today by order of the Governor (Rodolfo Elias Calles) as the culmination of three State circulars to educators, civil officials, and executive heads requesting that they express their anti-fanatical •views respecting religion. Many officials have resigned, it is said, as a consequence of this State request, Sonora Catholics claim that the Government closure of churches is an expression of the Governor’s anti-religious views.

Additional instructions from the State Government stated that priests must leave the State in less than 12 hours.
