CHARGE OF NEGLIGENCE
DEATH OF CAR PASSEXGEK. (Per United Press Association.! NEW PLYMOUTH, May 21. The trial of Erie James Baxter, a sawmiller, of Waekanae, on a charge of negligently driving a car so as to cause the death of Patrick Newton, of Waekanae, a passenger in the car, was opened m the Supreme Court to-day. The hearing was adjourned till to-morrow. The ease is the sequel to a smash near Lepperton, where a car driven by Baxter crashed through an overhead railway bridge on to the line 20 feet below. Newton died a few hours later.
