THE WEATHER
CONDITIONS DURING WEEK-END. The weather was fine and mild but overcast on Saturday, and light rain commenced to fall after sunset. There was an absence of wind, and the maximum temperature was 50 degrees. Early yesterday morning the weather was bright and fine, but a strong southwesterly wind sprang up later, and there was a heavy shower. The afternoon was s dull but fine. The barometer was steady at a little below 30.00 in. CONDITIONS IN THE NORTH. (Special to Dailt Timks.) AUCKLAND, May 20. A light to moderate south-west wind and unsettled weather were experienced during the week-end. Conditions were showery with intervals of sunshine. The barometer was nearly normal and showed vcrv little movement. "WELLINGTON, May 20. The weather on Saturday was fair though cloudy and rather cold, with a moderate north-westerly wind. Light rain fell in the evening, but died away during the night. Sunday morning was bright and sunny, the sky clouding over in the afternoon. There was a light wind from the south. CTIRISTCHURCH, May 20. The weather was fine in Christcliurch during the week-end. There were several hours of bright sunshine yesterday and this morning also was sunny, but the sky eiouded in the afternoon. The wind was light and variable. The barometer is rising slowly, and registered 20.95 in this eveuing.
