WAR DEBT PROBLEM
NEW DEVELOPMENTS EARLY STATEMENT EXPECTED. WASHINGTON, May 8. (Received May 9, at 9 p.m.) Now war debt developments which Administration officials believe will allow President Roosevelt to send to the United States Congress not only a detailed report of the debt status but concrete suggestions for a general settlement, are expected within the next two weeks. No official would say what the expected developments were, but it was indicated that they would form the basis of a presidential message to the Congress. Men familiar with the progress of the debt negotiations pointed out, however, that the envoys of 13 nations which have debt instalments due on June 15 have held recent discussions at the State Department, among them the British and French Ambassadors.
