NATIONAL GALLERY

~—•—<♦*———- LOANS TO DOMINIONS THE PRINCE’S SUGGESTION. LONDON, May 8. Referring to the Prince of Wales’s suggestion at the Royal Academy, Sir James Parr, interviewed by the Sun, said: “ I organised a deputation to Mr Ramsay MacDonald mouths ago, representing the dominions, to urge for legislation enabling travelling displays. He promised to introduce a Bill, and I am hopeful that the Government will be spurred on by the Prince's suggestion, and will act promptly, and that the Academy will discuss Lord Bledisloc’s idea of conferring a title similar to that of Royal Academician on outstanding dominion artists.” ■ A message received on Saturday stated that the Prince of Wales, who was the chief guest at the Royal Academy banquet, referred to the fact that the National Gallery was considering the advisability of lending English pictures overseas. He felt that the dominions and foreign countries should be allowed to sec the best 'work of English artists.
