LAW STUDENTS
DEBATING SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Otago University Law Faculty Students' Debating Society was held on Monday evening. Mr W. A. Race presided over a very satisfactory attendance of members. The annual report and balance sheet summarising the activities of the year were read and adopted. The following prizes won during the last season wero then presented: —Best first-year speaker, K. Stewart; impromptu speech competition, W. A. Race; oratorical contest, K. Stewart; best speaker for the year, C. E. H. Pledger. The election of office-bearers for the coming year resulted as follows: —President, Mr L. F. Moller; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr C. E. H. Pledger; committee —Messrs Neil, More, M'Elrea and French.
