G, Miller's application for emeritus status to the assembly. " » The Deacons' Court of the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church applied for the presbytery's concurrence to the giving of a mortgage over th > Sim street property |Of an Werdraft of £3OO. The request was referred to the Finance Committee with powers. The secretary of the Foreign Missions advised that the Rev. G. H. M'Neur, senior missionary, would be visiting Dunedinvto give lectures in the Theological Hall in May and June itiad would be prepared to speak in church on Sundays. It was also suggested that a campaign should be held in September and October in Otago and Southland in churches outside Dunedin.

The presbytery decided to accept the Bible Class Union's invitation to the dedication of the hall and the permanent camp site at Tirobangi on Easter Saturday. . N ' . ' ',• The Rev. J. Pringle submitted a report of the provisional arrangements for the celebrations in connection .with the eightieth anniversary of the presbytery. Mr Pringle expressed regret at the present state of Dr Gibb's health. He moved that Dr Hunter preside at 'the meeting In Burns Hall on July 8 and that r.he speakers be Dr Hunter and the Revs. W. A. Pringle, for the Ecclesiastical Committee, reported the visitations recommended for the year. The Rev. J. D. Smith moved: " That the presbytery desires to express its appreciation of the self-sacrifice and highly efficient services of those ladies and gentlemen who have devoted themselves to the relief depots and assures them of its confidence in their work." Mr Smith said that a collision had taken placo between the chairman of the Relief Committee (the Rev. E. T. Cox) and the other members. The Mayor had practically insulted them in public, and had refused to apologise, so that a strained atmosphere had arisen as a consequence. They were mostly members of the church who Were concerned, as their people gave the bulk of the support to the depot and consequently a reflection was cast on the presbytery itself. It was only fair that the presbytery bould express its confidence in the committee. The motion was seconded by the Rev. C. G. Wilcox and carried.
