The secretary said he had reason to believe that the prize money for the winning crew in the Interprovincial Eightoar Race at Wellington on Easter Saturday would be iucreased to £3O, and that the second prize would be £lO. The matter had not yet been finalised, but he expected to receive advice to that effect at any time. It was reported that R. Mathewson, of the Queen's Drive Club, had been selected coxswain of the Otago representative eight. PROTEST NOT SUSTAINED.

A letter was received from the North End Club protesting aginst the decision given in the Youths' Fours at the St. Leonards regatta on Saturday, and asking that North End be awarded first place. It was stated in the letter that a yacht was moored on the course near the finishing line, and she suddenly swung round broadside on in front of the boat. Previous to this the Port Chalmers crew had veered over on to North End and before the yacht swung ro/md the Port Chalmers boat's bow touched Butterfield's oar.

After several members had spoken on the question, it was decided that no action be taken, and the letter was received.

The Mackenzie Cup will be awarded fco the club gaining most points in outrigger events. , OAMARU REGATTA.

Mr Wilson raised the question of Otago crews competing at the Oamaru Boating Club's regatta on March 17. He maintained that the lecal dubs should support the Oamaru Club, as crews from Otago would' assist considerably to make the fixture a success. He had discussed the matter with the two Oamaru oarsmen who competed at the St. Leonards regatta on Saturday, and they stated , that the Oamaru Club was very anxious for Otago crews to compete in the various races. Mr Caffin said the Otago Club had made arrangements for several members to compete at Oanianr on March 17. It was decided that the delegates communicate with their respective clubs and Oamaru Club. . CONSIDERATION FOR OARSMEN. Mr Mackie raised the question of committees appointing competent officials for rowing events at regattas. Such officials had been lacking at most of the regattas in the past. ~, . . Mr Caffin drew attention to the fact that oarsmen competing at regattas received little consideration from some launch and yacht owners. At St. Leonards on Saturday more than one launch owner raced down the rowing course, and the crews were placed at a great disadvantage on account of the wash left by the motor boats. It was time the ahsociation took some measures to assure the oarsmen having a clear course. ■■ # ..-':■' . Mr Wilson said this sort of thing had been going on for years, and it wag the duty of the association to take denr.ite measures to have the practice, of interfering with the rowing courses stopped The association could accomplish something in this direction if regatta committees were informed that rowing crews would not compete unless a guarantee were given that the courses,, would be properly patrolled and kept clear. There were boat owners who year after year showed small consideration for oarsmen. It was decided that next year regatta committees would be askcJ to Hee that measures were taken to keep all rowing courses clear before accepting entries.
