SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION. , ,; Arising out of the proposal to closs the Galloway School and bring the ehil- ' dren to the Alexandra District High School, the members of the Alexandra School Coramitttee on Wednesday, evening met the Galloway committee members and discussed with them the po*ition. T It was finally decided to placo the whole matter before a householders meeting in April. | i/ , v MEASLES EPIDEMIC. At the present time an epidemic of measles ia prevalent in Alexandra in a mild form. The school attendance is, as a result;'-somewhat affected. is
. FIRE. In the early hour* of Sunday morning a washhouse at the rear of Mr Peter Campbell’s residence was seriouily damaged by fire. Mr Campbell will be a heavy loser as a considerable amount of clothes for washing was in the building at the time. The Alexandra Fir* Brigade was promptly on the scene, and prevented the fire from spreading to the bouse and adjacent buildings.
PERSONAL. • ; Mr H. P. 'Cowie, chief clerk in the local Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of his transfer to Invercargill. He will be replaced locally by Mr F. Boyce, of the relieving staff.
