THE KENNEL
By Bbeedeb.
The notes appearing In this paper every .Tuesday morning under this heading are the Official Notes of the Otago Kennel Club. The Secretary (Whltcombe'a Chambers) will be pleased to receive notes before Saturday of each week and to pass them on to " Breeder" for inclusion in The Kennel on the following Tuesday, also advertising material (For Sales, etc.) for insertion at the foot of the column. Mrs George Allan, the Dunedin pom. fancier, has a beautiful kennel of iumatcg at the present time. She has four puppics coming along the right way. They look all quality, and bred, as they are from the best blood in New Zealand, they should hold their own at future shows. Mrs Allan has had several inquiries for puppies lately. She is pleased at any time to receive a visit from anyone interested in these delightful little pets. Mr J, Curl has disposed of a pair of smooth fox terrier bitch pups from his fine bitch Gay Idea, by Mr W. Henderson's Stowaway. Mr Booth, the purchaser of the pups, has bred poms. for.a number of years, but; is now turning his attention to fox terriers. He is cer-'
tainly starting off the right -way, as these puppies are line-bred to ch. Gay Laliy (imp.), one of the finest fox terriers that has been brought to Australia. Mr L. Smyths is selling a choicelybred black cocker bitch by Vader of Sauld (imp.). The price that is asked includes a free mating to his imported black dog Church Leigh Druson. This offers any intending breeder a great opportunity to get the best English blood at a very reasonable price. Mrs Smith Morton, of Oamaru, has some very fine West Highland white terrier puppies coming along nicely. They are by Avoahead Buttonß.-es Selwyn Gay Lady, ■■-'-.. Mr Austin's wire-hair fox terrier bitch : Kidlet of Bistbw (imported), which he ! purchased some time ago from Mrs F, f\ Wall, of Martinboro'ugh,., won the chal--1 lenge in his new owner's colours at the recent Palmerston North show. May this be the forerunner of many more wins! .... Mr T. Bennett has, mated his Auetra-Jian-bred Airedale bitch to bis own dog Mountain Bushman, bred by Mr J.Mason, of Wellington. Mountain Bushman is by Gay Dandy (imp.) from Mountain Margaret. The pair mentioned should produce something choice as they are a combination of the best English imported
blood. ; '. • , Mr Alexander Bcgg's Bon Marche, by Heirloom, has whelped a nice litter ot coloured cockers —five dogs and two bitches—to his old dog Rex, by ch. Silver King from Braeval Bisent. Silver King was one of the best colonial-bred cockers seen in New Zealand. , ' Mr L. Darracott has sent his good bulldog bitch, Sunnyhurst Patch, by Brigadier BiH"ex Glyn Taff Judy (bred, by Mr E. Yates) to Christchureh to be mated to Mrs H. S.' Mitchell'sx Aotea Ranji, by Sheldon Jowie ex Glyn Taff Peggy, bred by Mr W. Schrafft. As Mr Darracott has decided to go in for line breeding, I think he is on the right track, and I am sure all bulldog fanciers would like to see the owner of the Armadale kennels breed a champion. I paid a visit to these kennels recently and had a look at Mr Darracott's fine range of new kennels. Everything conducive tfi the comfort of the inmates has been provided. In fact, it would be hard to find more up-to-date accommodation in the. south. Fanciers will be interested to know that Irivercargill is starting a kennel club and has applied to the governing body—the New Zealand Kennel Club—for afn? liation. . . _ ~ _■,., The South Canterbury Kennel. Club held their first parade on Saturday last, some-particulars of which I will give you next week. . .'■'.■■«',. With these two clubs and the North Otago Club dog shows in the south will be booming. ' ■ ■■■• -. The Otago Kennel Club has also applied for affiliation, and this will be granted as soon as a few minor matters are put in order. This will then allow the various kennel clubs to work in unison and arrange their shows to run on a cycle to the mutual benefit of all concerned.
