Pike was thrown when riding Ferndale in a division of the Alma Stakes. He suffered a bruised shoulder and shock, and was unable to ride in the Futurity Stakes or the later races. Air Queen broke down in the Stanley Plate. The veteran jockey R. Lewis is ill, but is improving. He will be unable to rid at Flemington. J. A. Phillips has purchased Prismatic. Following are the results at the Caulfield meeting::— ALMA STAKES. First Division. W. J. Robinson and E. L. Baillieux’s bit c DARK SKY (MoabiteLunar Lumen), 2yrs, 9,0 (Daniels) 1 GENEROUS, 7.3 (Godby) 2 W. R. Kemball’s QUEEN HELEN (N.Z.), 8.5 (Cook) 3 Sixteen started. Won by half a bead, with a neck between second and third. Time, Imin 13sec. Second Division. B. R. Payten’s BOMBUS (Baralong— Native Bee), 9.0 (Munro) .. ..s 1 W. Jackson’s SPARTAN, 8.6 .(Cook) 2 E. Won by a neck, with a length and a-quarter between second and third. The winner was a complete outsider. Time, 2min 18|sec. FUTURITY STAKES, Of 2Coosovs. Seven furlongs. S. Smith’s hr m WALTZING LILY (Beau Fils—Robecq), 4yrs, 9.10 (Cook) 1 J. T. Jamieson’s CLOSING TIME, 9.7 (Bartle) 2 P. Smithden’s KUVERA, 9.8 (Munro) 3 Eleven started. Staghorn led from the start, but soon gave place to Closing Time. Half a mile from the post Lelite was in command, and led into the .straight from Closing Time, Heros, and Whitting, ham. In the run home Waltzing Lily came fast, followed by Kuvera, and won by a length and a-half... Kuvera was a length and a-quarter away and Whittingham fourth. Time, Imin 24|sec. STANLEY PLATE/ E. L.
