Better business is shown by the financial results of the railway operations up to February 3. It, was announced today by Mr H. H, Sterling, chairman of the Railways Board, that for the fourweekly period which ended on that date the revenue had increased by £37,862, while the expenditure had increased by only £17,316, leaving an increase in the net revenue for the four-weekly period of £20,546, compared with the corresponding period of last year. » For the portion of the financial year from April'l, 1933, to February 3, 1934, the revenue showed an increase of £202,103 and the expenditure a decrease of £21;766, leaving an increase in the net revenue of £223,869 for that portion of the financial year compared with the corresponding portion of the previous financial year.
