MEETING; OF ASSOCIATION The monthly meeting of 'the; Roslyn and Kaikorai Ratepayers' Association was held last night, the chairman (Mr P. L. Ritchie) presiding. / There were also present Messrs A. Ellis, W, J..8e11, A. J. Allen, W. Sinclair, C. Fradlay, G. T. Dennis, and A. D. Sutherland ,(aecreA motion of sympathy wa« passed with the relatives of Mr Joseph Hunter, who had been a foundation member of the association. , . tviC A letter was received from the vity Council stating that the fixing of an extra street light in Tyne street had been provided for in. next year's allocation, the, present year's requirements having been filled. , ~ The chairman gave, a resume oi tne various works being done by the Uty Council in the district-the tar-sealmg of the Taieri' road and Ross street, tne curbing and channelling of Chapman_and Scarba streets, and extra street .light ng at the tram terminus in Kaikorai Valley road. The work on the • Fraser's road extension was progressing towards completion, and all .bore the mark of firstclass workmanship. ' . ■'■:.- The secretary was requested to ask tne City Council to cut the Jong grass add weeds in Ellis Park children. playing area and to ask that a new diving board be provided for the baths, the oneln rise for the last 20 years being out of repair and dangerous. # , The matter of regradmg and widening the Kaikorai Valley road was discussed at some length and it was decided to send a deputation of two members of the association in conjunction with two members of the Otago Motor Club to wait on the City Council with a view to ascertabling whether it would undertake the carrying out of this long-looked-for imDrovement. ■ .. * It was reported that the City Council had acquired a large section of land adjoining Dean street and County road for the purposes of a children's playing area. The council would commence to fill this in at an early date.
