WELLINGTON v. SOUTH CANTER- ' BURY A DRAWN GAME. (Pee United Pbess Association.) TIMARU, February. 22. The match between Wellington and South Canterbury was concluded to-day in brilliant weather, the game resulting in a draw. Wellington at the drawing of stumps last night had three wickets down for 33 runs. Resuming this morning five runs were added when Morgan lost his wicket leg before to M'Dougall. A misunderstanding between Hatch and O'Brien saw the latter run out, and five wickets were down for 45. Christopherson and Hatch provided stubborn opposition, the partnership adding 52 runs. The seventh and eighth wickets fell at 114, and at' this stage Lee dropped an easy catch off ChristJpherson. This chance altered the complexion of the game, for after reaching the home team's totul the visitors opened out, the ninth wicket adding 75 runs. Christopherson had two lives be fore being taken by Souter off M'Dougall. His score of 81 gave Wellington a gool first innings lead, the total, 189, taking 176 minutes to compile. M'Dougall bowled well, taking seven for 62. The home side in its second innings lost four wickets for 104 at the drawing of stumps. Scores: I WELLINGTON. First Innings. . J R. WANGANUI, February 22. The Canterbury Women's Cricket Eleven won the New Zealand Championship here to-day, accounting for Wellington Technical Old Girls in the final of a fourgame competition that was begun on Wednesday and finished to-day. Can-: terbury defeated Wanganui A on Wed-, nesday, and Wellington Technical College Old Girls accounted for Wanganui B. ! In the match to-day Canterbury in their first innings made 218, and at the fall of the ninth wicket declared innings closed. Wellington Technical Old Girls were dismissed for 28 runs, and, following on, they made only 11 runs, giving Canterbury a very definite, win. The Amalgamated Theatres' Shield, as the result of this match, will go to Christchurch. It has been held by Wanganui in the past.
