SUPERANNUATION FUNDS
RAILWAYMEN’S RESOLUTION At the monthly meeting of the Otago branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants the proposals which had been put forward for the stabilising of the various superannuation funds were freely discussed, and first-hand information was available for the information of members. At the close of the discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously: “ That this meeting of the Otago branch, A.S.R.S., having considered the proposed alterations to the Railway Superannuation Fund, is of the opinion that, in view of the exceptionally low subsidy required to be paid by the Government to maintain the present division II members, no alteration should be made in the present benefits. We further assert that in the event of any altcrtation in the Act being contemplated that would prejudicially aflect division 11 contributors’ benefits, a clause should be inserted in the Act that would give members the right to withdraw their contributions (plus from the fund with a view to their making a more satisfactory provision elsewhere.”
