OTAGO YACHT ASSOCIATION' A meeting-' of the Otago Yacht- andMotor Boat Association, was held last evening. The president (Mr. A. W. Hazelwood), was in the c.hair,. and the following delegates were present:— Messrs W. 0.-. Martin, J. Small, O. Smith, A. Chalks, D; Jenkins, E. Holier, R. Cardno, W. Webber, T. Anderson, and a! The practice of holding the trials in conjunction with the club races had proved popular, and had created . a great deal of interest. , Eileen, was , the only boat to represent Otago in the. next Sanders Cup contest, and the suggested crew was I. MTJrath (skipper), M'Laren (for’ard hand), Kennedy, and Cuthbert. It was intended to place this; crew in the Eileen for the trial on Saturday. •: V It was resolved that in the event of Eileen not complying with the steel moulds, the president and secretary.be empowered to procure another boat. The. report was adopted. Z CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP.

It was decided, on the motion ,of Mr Martin, that the- Z class New .Zealand championship 'contest be. commenced on Otago Harbour on January 24; insteaifof January 20, as previously arranged. This would give yachtsmen an opportunity to attend the Sanders Cup. contest, at LyttelA report was submitted on the local Z class trials. There were some very promising boys taking part in ®“. e races. It was suggested that a. folloiy-up boat be procured for the trials. It might be necessary to 1 change the crews' round before the trials were completed—The report was approved, and the association decided to procure a follow-up boat. •• _ It was decided that each competing port in the Z class championship supply, its own boat.

The president of the New Zealand Yachting Council advised that the, followin'* entries had been received,for the New Zealand Z class championship contesfto be held at Dunedin in January:— Wellington, Plimmerton, Porirua, Kaiapoi; Lyttelton.’ Christchurch, Otago, Port Chalmers, and Invercargill. ■ . The secretary of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club wrote suggesting that the association ask the competing ports in the Z class championship to bring their own boats. This-would have the full support of the Canterbury ,-Chib, and would help other ports to realise the difficulty and expense that was tacked on the association which conducted the contest.—The secretary said the Z class contest would be started with four, local boats, but five were required, in case of accidents.—lt was decided that the secretary be empowered to secure' sufficient 12ft 6in class boats from other ports for the contest.
