OUTLOOK FOR WOOL
MR DEVEREUX’S REPORT MARKETS GENERALLY ACTIVE (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, November 25. Hr W. P. Devereux (Australian Woolgrowers’ representative) reports: “The situation in the United States and France continues to be very disturbing. All the tvool markets are firm with an active demand, especially those of Germany and Yorkshire. The opening rates have been firmly maintained, and the withdrawals are negligible. Cross-bred tops are firmer, and there is a good demand for medium and fine qualities. Prices for merino yarns have been fully maintained, and there, is a moderate amount of new business. Cross-bred yarn prices are tending against buyers, but there is little business. Many mills are working overtime. The sales of tops in Germany are again large, with improved prices. Trade is active and confident, but the trade in France is only moderately active. The Italian industry is active and the Continental market is firm.”
